"Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ," - Philippians 3:8
At the pinnacle of all his human achievements, the Apostle Paul said he counts all but lost, for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ. He further rubbishes every physical gain he had made, for the privilege of gaining Christ.
This situates Christ as that which is of ultimate value, incomparable in importance, and having superiority in preeminence in the life of any person. The most valuable asset a person can have is Christ.
The highest of human achievements cannot be placed side by side with attaining Christ. If there is anything the believer should seek, it is to walk in the consciousness of Christ having become his/her life.
Gaining Christ is embracing the entirety of the Divine essence of God. Anyone who is unable to perceive the Divinity(the Christ) that dwells in the humanity(Jesus), will not be able to produce divine outcomes and win at life. Anyone that counts all but loss, actually loses nothing, because in gaining the excellency of Christ, one comes in possession of the maximum load of God.
In Mathew 8:24-27, when Jesus (His humanity) slept in the boat and the disciples began to fret at the storm, His response to them revealed their lack of comprehension of His Christness. Because, though his humanity slept, his Divinity(Christ) would not allow any turbulence overtake anything or anyone. Therefore their lack of comprehension of His divine essence: that beyond Jesus the son of Mary, there is Christ, the Anointed One whom the winds and the waves obey, caused them to fret.
To gain Christ is to gain immunity against everything that has the propensity to plague, destabilise and disturb the composure of humanity. If there is any knowledge the believer must pursue with all agression and intentionality, it is the knowledge of Christ, which is the most superior of all knowledge.
Beloved, you have gained the most valuable of all assets: Christ!
